When the Kyle Jenner lip kits came out, it’s fair to say that everyone went a little bit mental.
It took a little bit of time, but finally the dupes started popping up all over the makeup world.
In all honestly, I didn’t have an urge to pick up the Kylie Jenner lip kits as it was never something I was particularly interested in, especially after finding out more about the ingredients and it matching those of Colour Pop.
I really wanted to care, but I didn’t. I’m a fan of the Kardashians, especially Kylie, but I’ve never had the urge to pick up a product because a celebrity has endorsed it.
I’ve always heard amazing things about the Kylie Jenner lip kits, not a day’s gone by since the release that I haven’t heard or read bog posts, praising the brand. I would never take anything away from the her brand or the lip kits in particular, she has done bloody well! However, as I’m trying to save my money, I find it difficult to justify paying more than a tenner for a lipstick. I bided my time, waiting to see what similar products hit the market and finally, here comes Makeup Revolution.
I know there’s a bit of controversy around Makeup Revolution and the dupe aspects of the product. As you can already tell from this post, that doesn’t bother me in the slightest, however it is each to their own and all that.
Anyway, so one Saturday I popped along to Superdrug to check the Makeup Revolution stand. If there’s one thing I hate about shopping in Superdrug is that I always find the stands all over place. Unfortunately, the Superdrug I visited, the Makeup Revolution Lip Kits had no samples and it’s really hard to tell what the colour is like just from the box. I knew I wanted to pick something, but the only way I could really tell what the colour was by opening the box and taking a few swatches.
Of course, then the shop assistant thought I was stealing them and then decided to follow me around the shop a few times, but there you go.
Long story short, I went for Echelon. It’s a gorgeous brown nude colour that I couldn’t help but fall in love with instantly. I’ve been wearing a lot more nude colours recently and this colour is a perfect one to add to my collection. It’s great for every-day and the evenings too. Within the kit, you get a lip liner and liquid lipstick.
What I can say about this lipstick it is amazingly pigmented. You just need one swipe of the liquid lipstick and you're good to go! It has a matte finish and I was so shocked at the quality of it as the kit is a bargain at only £6.
The other thing that I absolutely love about this lipstick, is that the staying power is insane. I actually don’t have any other lipstick to compare it to. It’s great for long work days or even meals as it actually doesn’t wear off when you eat and drink. Although, I love that about this lipstick, it’s kind of its downfall too. I feels like it’s stuck there? Not matter how much I drink and eat, it doesn’t budge. I wake up with it still on and I have to proper scrub with a makeup remover to get it off. Which can be irritating.
Despite all this, I still absolutely love it. There’s something about the colour that I will look past the other flaws. The lip kit is £6 and it’s a bargain. You’re basically getting two high-quality products for that price and I can’t wait to add some more to my collection.
Have you tried the Makeup Revolution lip kits before? Or any other lip kits?
