Beauty Haul ft. NYX, L'Oreal and Maybelline

There's something about new make-up that gives me a little happy lift inside.

I went on a serious spending ban for around 3 months due to a job-related issue. I only bought what I absolutely needed and I tried to use all the products that I had stored away rather than buying new things. It did me the world of good.

However, when I started getting regular income, did I stop the ban and purchase some must need products from boots?! Of course I did. My list of things I wanted couldn't be longer after regularly reading beauty blogs there were so many new and exciting products that I needed to try. I held back from my full list, but I did get quite a few gems from my little trip to Boots. So here we go....

 L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche a L'Huile - Greige Amoureux

So there was a 3 for 2 offer on at Boots and I was excitedly hunting for a new nail varnish when I fell in love with this colour.

It’s fair to say this is a very unusual colour for me. At first, I was looking at the purples and blues, but then I thought, ‘Sam, you literal have every shade of purple going. Let’s get over purple’ and I was drawn to this.

I don’t really know how to describe it except it being a dark, grey-y, brown-y and maybe a hint of purple. All the other words I can think of don’t sound appealing (murky anyone?).

Anyway, however, you would describe this shade, it’s beautiful and it’s perfect for the Autumn/Winter months. I’m not afraid to admit I’ve been wearing this non-stop since I bought it and I think it’s such an unusual, but elegant colour. The formula is amazing, the bottle looks so classy and I’m definitely going to be trying more colours from this range.

So, I'm on the matte liquid lipstick hype. But aren't a lot of us.

After I tried the NYX counter for the 173rd time and everything was sold out, I just decided to pick up another liquid lipstick that I had heard many positive things about; the Maybelline Vivid Matte Lipsticks.

I am and always will be a huge fan of dark and bold lipsticks. Therefore, this deep berry shade was perfect for me and for the colder months. The consistency of this lipstick is slightly wetter than the NYX shade and it takes a little longer to get that 'matte' finish, but I love it all the same.

L'Oreal Lash Architect Mascara 4D

I’ve been after a new mascara for a very, very long time. I promised myself to use up all the mascara in my makeup bag before I bought anything completely new.

They might have been more than possibly out of date, but whose counting dates anyways? With no idea what I wanted, I knew that L'Oreal had never let me down so I wanted to see what new goodies they had available for me.

This was the one I ended choosing. Probably like many of you reading this, I am very fussy when it comes to my wands. I really dislike plastic wands and much prefer brushes, therefore I knew I would love this. Honestly, I do love it and it lengthens and volumises my lashes amazingly.

L'Oreal Fixing Mist

For a long time, I just didn’t ‘get’ setting sprays. When I was younger, myself and my friends used to spray hairspray on our faces to keep our makeup in place, during swimming classes at school or simply on a night out, when we knew we’d be dancing a lot. Technically, setting spray kinda is the same thing, so why wasn’t I using it?

Although the Urban Decay setting spray is what I’ve read so many positive reviews about recently. There was no way I was going to spend that much money until I knew setting spray worked for me. So alternatively I picked up L'Oreal's Fixing Spray (they was a 3 for 2 offer on, hence all the L'Oreal things).

I’ve only worn this to work or a trip to town and so far, I love it. It gives my face a matte feel and I honestly feel it does a great job at keeping my makeup in place. I’m seriously starting to wonder how I lived without it. I’m looking forward to the days or nights where it can really show how good is e.g. a night out or a long day. But honestly, so far, it’s working like a dream.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - Dubai

The hype around NYX is insane. It was hard for me not to give in to the hype, but due to my spending ban, I think I did well to hold back until now.

Unfortunately, I couldn't go as crazy as I would have liked because literally everything that I wanted was sold out, I’m sure many people will tell you how difficult it is to get your hands on certain products at NYX. I work and up until recently lived in the centre of Manchester, with a huge Boots and NYX stall less than a 5-minute walk away and every time I went in, almost all of the lipsticks were out of stock. I managed to pick this up 8:50am on a Wednesday morning when the guy was literally restocking 'Dubai' and I almost grabbed it out his hand in excitement.

But still, everything else I wanted was still out of stock. Damn you NYX.

After trying this once, I was obsessed with it. Even a quick walk to the corner shop and I need to wear it. It’s seriously good. Seriously. I absolutely adore the colour. I was looking for a brown shade for a while and none of them has hit the mark, but this is definitely a keeper.
