FOOD | The Pen and Pencil, Manchester

To celebrate the start of Bank Holiday weekend we headed to Pen and Pencil for a couple of drinks and a nice meal. We hadn't been to Pen and Pencil in Northern Quarter before and to be honest, I hadn't heard much about it either. Being a vegetarian and a picky eater I always have to research restaurants before we choose one, so when I saw the menu for Pen and Pencil I couldn't wait to try it out, there was so much choice.
When we first arrived, the bar/restaurant was absolutely packed with no spare tables available. We asked a member of staff if there was another room or any more seating available and they told us that they had another room, but haven't opened it as they weren't busy enough, however knowing we wanted to eat they kindly opened it for us.

Once we were seated, it was then time for the drinks! It was a Friday and the start of the bank holiday weekend so of course I went for a cocktail! I can't remember the name of it, but all I do remember about it was that it contained gin and pink lemonade and it was absolutely delicious, win/win.

For the our main I went for the sliders - I chose two holloumi sliders and one cod. The halloumi was cooked perfectly and the batter of the cod was nice and crispy and all round very tasty. Three sliders with aside of fries was the perfect amount for me, as normally I struggle to finish a full burger with all the toppings to myself.

There are other sliders available, including beef and prawns, but personally I would always choose these two choices over and over again. They were so good. The fries were equally as perfect. After all that food, there was no way I had room for a dessert, I may have room for another cocktail though....
I couldn't fault anything when we visit this Pen and Pencil in the Northern Quarter, the food and staff were amazing. We'll definitely be back!
