L'OREAL VOLUMINOUS EXTRA BLACK MASCARA

Another day, another mascara post... After picking up Benefits Roller Lash in Elle magazine, I was really excited to try it out and it was great timing as I had just ran out of my other mascara. However, I really didn't get on with it, which meant I had to pop into Boots for a new one. Normally I read a few reviews on different mascaras so I know what I'm going in for, but on this occasion I went in totally blind. I asked one of the ladies that worked there and she recommended to me L'Oreal Voluminous Extra Black Mascara..

To be honest, I haven't heard anything about this mascara before. It might just be me not paying attention or it might be an old brand that nobody really blogs about anymore, I don't know. The lady in Boots said it was one L'Oreals best sellers and I could see that as they were only a couple of this mascara left on the shelf. However, I can't seem to find it on the Boots website or anywhere online really, It's a bit of a mystery to me.
On to the mascara.. It advertises itself as a voluminising mascara as you can tell with the name, claiming to provide 5x extra volume to your lashes. That's a pretty good claim, so I was excited to see if it does what it claims, so does it? Not really. Sure, it adds some volume to my lashes, but it also does a pretty good job at lengthening them too. It's good at voluminsing and lengthening my lashes, however I wouldn't necessary identify this as a volume building mascara. Saying that, I still really like it as a mascara and the effect it gives my lashes.

What I love about this mascara is the brush. I've spoken about my dislike for plastic wands before in the past and don't always get on with them. When I was looking for a new mascara I made sure to pick one up with an actual brush. I just feel my lashes get on with this type of brush a lot more and help them look longer and volumised. This mascara also claims that it doesn't clump your lashes, which I completely agree with. I found that this mascara doesn't clump my lashes at all or does it flake.

Overall, although I don't see this as a voluminisng mascara, I still really like it. It lengthens and adds volume to my lashes nicely and I think it really good value for money at £8.49. It's not my favourite mascara I've used, therefore I probably won't be repurchasing as I'd rather try something else instead.

Have you ever tried this mascara?
