Welcome to my very book post on Dainty Owl! I'm quite a big reader, but I've never really featured any books on here before and I'm not too sure why. At the end of December I promised myself that I would start posting more about books in the New Year as when I'm not blogging or watching Netflix, I am probably reading. Let me start off by saying though, that this is quite an odd bunch of books I picked up...
Firstly, I picked up The Girl On The Train, the much anticipated thriller by Paula Hawkins. It's about a woman named Rachel who takes the same train to work every morning which stops at the same signal overlooking a row of suburban homes. Daily, she sees the same couple 'Jess and Jason' sitting on their decking, however one day she sees something shocking that will change her life forever. Crime and thrillers are my favourite types of books and after hearing about this book for months and the comparisons to Gone Girl by Gillian Fynn, I knew I had to pick it up when it came out.

Next up is Columbine by Dave Cullen. Columbine is an account of the 1999 massacre at Columbine High School, Colorado in which 12 students and 1 teacher lost their lives. This book has been ten years in the making and is 'an up-close study of violence, grief and destructive media frenzy, Columbine is above all compelling, tragic and utterly human portrait of two young killers' (from the back of the book). As a criminology graduate I have read many true crime accounts during my time at university, but I never read anything on Columbine. Obviously, this book isn't for everyone however, if you like true crime books you might find this an interesting read!

I told you this was an odd bunch of books! I picked the vloggers Tanya Burr's book Love, Tanya on a bit of a whim. I've never been really interested in vloggers books that's been released recently and although I enjoy Tanya's videos, I wasn't planning on picking this one up either until I had a flick through in Waterstones. It's a mix of beauty, fashion and youtube with lots of personal chapters about her life in there too and looks like a fun and interesting read!

When I was shopping in Waterstones, I picked up this sweet little notebook for only £3.99. It's not very big so it's perfect my handbag and having for when I'm on the go!

Have you read any of these? Leave me some recommendations! I love finding new books to read.
