Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm | 220 Showy

The Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms have been on the scene for a while now and I finally decided to take the plunge and try one for myself instead of reading more blog posts about them. I love having a bit of colour on my lips and it's very rare that I leave the house with my lips being completely bare. Even though I own many lipsticks, I have never used a lip balm before.

There are ten colours to choose from in the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm range and it took me a while to pick just one. I eventually chose shade 220 called 'Showy'. I wanted a shade for summer and something slightly different to what I already owned so in the end I went for a bubblegum pink. This shade is bright, eye-catching and definitely not shy. In the photo the balm was patted down slightly as for a casual day out, I do find the colour a bit too intense, but on a night out there's no holding back! I love this colour and the balms for that exact reason, I can control the intensity. If I want the colour to be subtle, I apply with little pressure.

I find the balms a lot easier to apply compared to lipsticks. They are easier to control and I able to line my lips with a higher accuracy. The formula is smooth allowing it to glide on the effortlessly. It also has a light and velvety feel to it which makes the balm literally melt on my lips. To be honest, I was really impressed with the formula and it fastly made it's way into my favorites just because of the sheer moisturising factor it had. I normally stick with matte lipsticks and it can dry my lips out as well as making them look cracked, however I loved how this creamy formula does not dry mine out and still leaves a matte finish.

One thing that surprised me about this product was the scent. It smells slightly of mint which is a lovely change to the normal standard chemical lipstick smell. The mint is not overpowering in the slightest, but is really quite pleasant. The lasting power once again really surprised me and surpassed some of my more expensive lipsticks. I found that I very rarely had to reapply during the day, only when I have been eating or drinking, but that is to be expected.

Overall, I love the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms and I love the shade 'Showy'. I won't be shy when buying lip balms in the future and I'm sure a few more may make their way into my collection at some point.

Have you tried this product before? Can you recommend any other lip balms?
